Ultrasonic Calibration Block V1

Calibration block V1 is intended for ultrasonic flaw detectors calibration during ultrasonic testing of welded joints quality and corresponds to DSTU 4002-2000 (ISO 2400, DIN 54120, B. S. 2704).

V1 calibration block allows to:

  • determine the index point of ultrasonic oscillations and ultrasonic x-value with an error ± 0.5 mm;
  • determine the probe angle of ultrasonic oscillations with an error ±1 angl. degrees;
  • determine the non-testing (dead) zone (by steel) for straight-beam probes;
  • determine the resolution capability (by steel) of ultrasonic straight-beam probes;
  • determine the sweep linearity of UT flaw detectors horizontally;

Specifications

  • Calibration block is made of a fine grained low carbon steel with a low attenuation coefficient;
  • longitudinal waves sound velocity in the calibration block material at a frequency 5.0 MHz and temperature (20±5) 0 С equals (5920±30) m/s;
  • Shear waves sound velocity  in the polymethyl methacrylate material of calibration block at a frequency 5.0 MHz and temperature 0 С equals (2670±100) m/s;
  • Calibration block geometrical dimensions correspond to DSTU 4002-2000 (ISO 2400, DIN 54120, B. S. 2704);
  • Calibration block weight is no more than 4.8 kg.
